KEROSEN is a site-specific audiovisual performance. A light installation composed with more than eighty LEDs, halogen and strobe lights will be placed on the architectural characteristics of the space. The light will be in completely sync with the sound, creating an equal and organic relationship between the visual and the sonic content.
The sound will come both from the performer and the computer. The computer will compose in real time the music through algorithmic techniques in contrast with the live performer, aiming to question the role of automation described in the following section.
The piece pretends to be an immersive experience where the space is shaped and transformed by the sound and lights. In the same time sound travels through space and what actually arrives to our ears is a combination of the sound source and the space it went through. The space, the machine and the performer will become equal actors aiming to communicate and create a deep involvement with the viewers, who are urged to evolve from a condition of mere spectatorship.
